The Narrow Passage - Original
The Narrow Passage - Original
(Venice)
A study of Venetian architecture and reflected light, The Narrow Passage focuses on the interplay between surface and water. Buildings rise close to the canal, their tones softened by shifting reflections below.
Executed mainly with a palette knife, the paint is applied in layered strokes, creating texture within plaster walls and fractured movement across the surface of the water. Detail is suggested rather than described, allowing colour and structure to carry the composition.
This work explores atmosphere through material — paint laid with weight and gesture, capturing the quiet compression of Venice’s inner waterways.
