A broader canal opens toward evening light in Lanterns on the Water, where architecture and reflection dissolve into one another. The surface of the water carries fractured colour, broken by knife-work and layered paint.

The composition relies on texture and tonal contrast rather than fine detail. Edges remain suggestive; structure emerges through gesture. Light settles across the buildings and is pulled downward into the canal, where it shifts and reforms.

This work continues an exploration of atmosphere through surface, weight of paint, movement of colour, and the quiet geometry of Venice reduced to form and reflection.
